Ellis International Limited was formed in 2004 by brothers Aston, Ian and Owen Ellis, but the name has been around a long time. Through the late Hortense Ellis, Jamaica’s first ever female recording artist, and the legendary Rock Steady pioneer Alton Ellis OD, the Ellis name has been an integral part of Jamaican entertainment for over 50 years. Owen "Blakka" Ellis - One of the founders and codirectors of Ellis International Limited, Owen is a professional actor, writer and teacher, and regarded as one of the top comedians in the Caribbean. He has worked all over the world as a trainer, workshop facilitator and motivational speaker as well as performing in plays, film and as part of the famous "Bello & Blakka" comedy team. Aston "Robot" Ellis - One of the founders and codirectors of Ellis International Limited, Aston is a bandleader, bass player, musical arranger, pan player and vocal arranger. Like his brothers, he comes from a family that has been part of the Jamaican entertainment industry for over 50 years. Aston has performed for over twenty years throughout the United States, Jamaica, Asia and England. He currently leads Robannic Reggae Band touring internationally. Ian "Ity" Ellis - One of the founders and codirectors of Ellis International Limited, Ian is one half of the comedy duo "Ity and Fancy Cat". The youngest son of Leslie Roy Ellis and a protégé of his older brother "Blakka", he has been creating waves in the local nightclub and stage show circuits for his sidesplitting caricatures of popular Jamaican entertainers. Gleaner readers have voted "Ity and Fancy Cat" the Best Comedy Duo in Jamaica for two consecutive years. |
